Cranmer Road – Hampton

The structural design adopted for this building was a reinforced concrete frame with solid flat slab and rectangular columns. The detailing of this contemporary design required a high level of precision in sizing up of the various reinforced concrete elements including all the beams and columns that required to fit within certain dimensions. The external cladding was formed from insulated blockwork and render and the foundations were designed as a stiff reinforced concrete raft with retaining walls acting monolithically to form a stiff box construction. Particular attention was given to minimise the carbon footprint for this new building and a heat source pump system was adopted as a result. Sustainable materials were adopted as matter of course as much as it was possible to do so.
