Chesterfield Street – Mayfair
The transformation of this historic building involved a comprehensive refurbishment and modernization. With the addition of a mansard roof, the reconfiguration of internal layouts, and the careful design to avoid disturbing party walls, this project overcame numerous challenges posed by neighbours. Significant strengthening was required throughout due to fabric loss, alongside the removal of the central section to construct a cantilever staircase. The high-specification finishes, including the integration of large, imported marble sections, necessitated an intricate system of lightweight steel frames to support the additional weight within the internal timber walls. This project showcases our expertise in structural engineering, blending modern design with meticulous preservation of existing structures.
