St Johns Road – New Construction
The site at St John’s Road was an enclosed area with a number of garages that served houses on the same street. The garages were demolished and a basement was formed using sheet piles hydraulically driven into the ground to minimise vibration and mage the construction possible due to the limited access available. The construction of this building was formed from loadbearing brick and block with timber floors. The basement construction was formed in metal sheet piles that provided a waterproof shell simplifying the tanking and waterproofing process. The upper floors of the house was formed from a combination of steel frame and loadbearing masonry. The steel frame was designed and attached to the capping beam welded to the top of the metal sheet piles.
