Printers Mews

The building, originally constructed in the 1920s as a commercial printing facility for the post office, exemplifies a typical light industrial unit of its time, characterized by lightweight metal roof trusses and internal load-bearing brick walls. The renovation and structural works undertaken were designed to preserve the building’s historical features while adapting the space for modern functionality.  A comprehensive structural assessment was conducted to evaluate the integrity of the existing framework. The lightweight metal roof trusses, which had been a hallmark of the original design, were inspected and, where necessary, reinforced to meet current building codes and support the updated load requirements. This involved adding bracing and retrofitting sections of the trusses to enhance stability while maintaining their historical appearance.
